2025 texas youth & college awards
The Texas NAACP Youth & College Division’s Awards are given to Youth Units and Advisors who have displayed exemplary dedication and commitment to the mission and vision of the NAACP. Each applicant is asked to demonstrate their level of activity, accomplishments and honors received.
This year’s award categories and criteria include:

Demonstrated consistent community service and advocacy in at least 3 key areas (education, healthcare, economic justice, environmental justice, or voting rights).
At least one large-scale community initiative led and executed by youth members.
Evidence of mentorship and leadership development for younger members.
Partnerships with local organizations or schools to advance justice.
Documentation of impact (events, campaigns, testimonies, or press)

Clear commitment to intersectional justice (race, gender, LGBTQ+, economic equality).
A strong record of policy or advocacy campaigns on campus or in the local community.
Evidence of coalition building with other student groups or external organizations.
At least one campus-wide initiative fostering political education and civic engagement.
Demonstrated ability to mobilize students for direct action or legislative advocacy.

Minimum of one year of active advisory service to a youth or college unit.
Proven record of guiding and empowering young leaders while allowing them to take initiative.
Evidence of capacity-building (training, leadership workshops, or skill development).
Documented consistency in communication, mentorship, and advocacy for youth voices.
Endorsement from youth/college members through testimonials or letters.
For a Unit to qualify, the Unit must be in compliance with the National Office. For an Advisor to qualify, their Unit must also be in compliance with the National Office. Compliance is defined as: 1) Unit is in contact with the National Office, 2) Unit has a minimum of 25 youth memberships, 3) Unit’s Annual Year End Financial Report has been received by the National Office, 4) Unit assessments have been paid.
